CAREER JAGOR INITIATIVE LAUNCHED TO STRENGTHEN CAREER GUIDANCE IN GOA

Panaji, 20 April 2026

The statewide career guidance initiative Career Jagor for students of Classes 10 and 12 was launched today at Kala Academy, Panaji. The programme is organised by the Goa State Council of Educational Research and Training (GSCERT) and is being implemented in association with the Directorate of Education, Directorate of Higher Education, Directorate of Technical Education, and the Directorate of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship.

The Career Jagor initiative will be rolled out across Goa from 24 April 2026. Under this initiative, nearly 600 teachers will be trained as “Career Ambassadors” to ensure structured career guidance reaches every school across the state. The programme aims to help students make informed career choices based on their interests, abilities, and emerging opportunities in a rapidly evolving world.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant stated that Classes 10 and 12 are crucial stages in a student’s life, where timely and right guidance can have a lasting impact. He said that students already carry aspirations within themselves, and teachers play a key role in shaping and guiding those aspirations in the right direction.

He further highlighted that in today’s evolving world, students have opportunities across diverse fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology, cybersecurity, digital media, tourism innovation, and entrepreneurship. He emphasised that skill development, reskilling, and continuous learning are essential to succeed in modern careers.

Stressing the need to move beyond conventional career choices, he urged teachers to guide students in exploring a wider range of opportunities aligned with their interests and strengths. Referring to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision that “Yuva Shakti is Desh ki Shakti,” he called upon teachers to fulfil their role as Career Ambassadors with dedication and commitment.

The programme was attended by Secretary (Education), Shri Prasad Lolayekar, IAS; Director, Directorate of Higher Education & Directorate of Technical Education, Shri Bhushan Sawaikar; Director, Directorate of Education, Shri Shailesh Zingde; Director, Directorate of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Vinayak Kambli; Director, GSCERT, Smt.
