TRAFFIC DIVERSION IN VIEW OF INDEPENDENCE DAY

Dy. Supdt. of Police, Traffic, North has informed that in view of the Independence Day celebration on August 15, 2026 in front of the Old Secretariat, Panaji, traffic diversions are effected from August 14, 2026 and August 15, 2026.

On August 14, 2026 from 06.00 a.m onwards the stretch of D.B.B. Marg (left side lane) from Bandodkar Statue to Abade Faria Statue will be closed for erection of Pandal and the stretch of D.B.B. Marg from Ferry Wharf Junction to Bandodkar Statue (both lanes) will be closed for vehicular movement from 8.00 p.m of August 14 2026 till the function is over on August 15, 2026.

During the closure period the vehicles entering Panjim city via New Patto Bridge on reaching Bandodkar Statue shall take a left turn to proceed behind Old Secretariat to take turn near Joao Castro Road-Jose Falcao Road/Match Corner to proceed to their destination.

During the closure period the vehicular traffic desiring to go out of Panaji city, on reaching Ferry wharf will be diverted towards Police Headquarters to Govt. Printing Press junction to take right and proceed towards Uco Bank to take left turn towards Saraswati Mandir building and thereafter again left towards Church Square to proceed via Cortin-Old Patto bridge/New Mala Bridge.

The stretch of M.G. Road from Aba de Faria Statue upto Casa International junction will be exclusively used for parking of vehicles coming for the Independence Day Parade.

The motorists are requested not to park their vehicles on the above diversion routes and to co-operate with Traffic Police to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
