The foundation stone laying ceremony of the proposed Ramakrishna Mission Goa project was held on Monday at Ramakrishna Mission Math, Khandepar, Ponda. The programme marked the beginning of a new initiative associated with the Ramakrishna Mission in Goa.

The proposed project is envisioned as a centre for spirituality, service, education, and value-based development inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. The initiative is expected to strengthen spiritual and social service activities while promoting cultural and value-oriented engagement in the State.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said, “This foundation stone is not only for a building, but for the next 100 years of Goa’s spiritual and cultural future.” He stated that the occasion was not just a Bhoomipujan ceremony, but an important moment in Goa’s spiritual and social journey. Referring to Swami Vivekananda’s message of “Shiva Bhave Jiva Seva,” he said that service to humanity is service to God.

CM Dr. Sawant further said that Goa is emerging as an important destination for spiritual tourism and cultural heritage. He noted that while Goa was once globally recognised for “Sun, Sea and Sand,” the Government has worked to add a fourth “S” – Spirituality. He also highlighted initiatives such as Partagali Math, the Shri Ram statue, the revival of cultural landmarks, and the Swayampurna Goa movement as reflections of the State’s focus on spirituality, self-reliance, and cultural preservation.

The initiative reflects the Government’s continued commitment towards supporting institutions contributing to social service, nation-building, and the preservation of spiritual and cultural heritage. It also reflects continued efforts towards promoting values-based development and strengthening Goa’s spiritual identity.

The programme was attended by Most Rev. Swami Suhitanandaji Maharaj, Vice President of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission; Swami Aryanand Ji, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Goa; along with devotees, dignitaries, and members associated with the Ramakrishna Mission.
