GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES STATE SUBSIDY SCHEME FOR INSTALLATION OF ROOFTOP SOLAR SYSTEMS UNDER PM SURYA GHAR : MUFT BIJLI YOJANA

The Government has introduced a State Subsidy Scheme for the Installation of Rooftop Solar Systems with the objective of promoting the adoption of renewable energy, reducing dependence on conventional sources of electricity and encouraging consumers across the State to generate clean energy through rooftop solar installations.

The scheme will be implemented through the Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) and has been come into force from April 01, 2026 and will remain valid March 31, 2028, subject to the provisions of the scheme.

The scheme is open to consumers having a Permanent Consumer Account (CA) Number issued by the Department of Electricity. Residential consumers, Group Housing Societies (GHS), Resident Welfare Associations (RWA), Educational Institutions, Commercial establishments, Industrial establishments and NGOs and other eligible establishments are the categories eligible to avail the scheme subsidy.

The State Government will provide subsidy to eligible consumers based on the benchmark cost prescribed by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), as applicable under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and amendments issued from time to time.

The State subsidy provided by the Government of Goa through GEDA is in addition to the Central Financial Assistance (CFA) provided by the Government of India under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, thereby providing an additional financial incentive to eligible consumers for installation of rooftop solar systems

Eligible consumers are encouraged to take advantage of the scheme and install rooftop solar systems during the validity period of the scheme.
