CENTRE, STATE AND INDUSTRY STAKEHOLDERS DELIBERATE ON ADVANCING INDIA’S CLEAN ENERGY TRANSITION

The Global Wind Day Conference highlighting the critical role of wind power in strengthening energy security, driving economic growth and supporting environmental sustainability held in Goa.
Policymakers, industry leaders, developers, investors and energy experts came together to deliberate on the future of wind energy and explore strategies for accelerating India’s clean energy transition.
The Conference was organised by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) on the theme “Wind Energy: From Ambition to Acceleration,” the conference served as a platform for discussions on policy reforms, technological advancements and collaborative approaches required to unlock the next phase of growth in India’s wind energy sector.
Addressing the gathering, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Shri Pralhad Joshi said that India’s renewable energy sector has witnessed remarkable growth over the past decade, with wind and solar power emerging as key drivers of sustainable development. He noted that effective policies, quality infrastructure and strong implementation can help India emerge as a global leader in renewable energy.
Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Shri Shripad Naik said that India has set ambitious clean energy targets and must accelerate efforts to expand the use of wind power while addressing transmission challenges.
Minister for New and Renewable Energy Shri Ramakrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar highlighted that wind energy is a clean, affordable and environmentally friendly source of power that is essential for a greener and more sustainable future.
During the conference, three e-books – Digital Commissioning Record, Advancing Wind Power in India and Elevating India’s Wind Turbine Exports for Global Markets were launched virtually. The occasion also witnessed the felicitation of distinguished personalities from the renewable energy sector for their contributions towards advancing clean energy initiatives in the country.
The conference concluded with a renewed commitment from stakeholders to strengthen collaboration, promote innovation and accelerate the expansion of wind energy across the country. Participants underscored the importance of supportive policies, robust infrastructure and sustained investment in achieving India’s clean energy goals and advancing the nation’s transition towards a sustainable and low-carbon future.

Shalini Agrawal, COO of Central Transmission Utility of India Limited Shri Kailash Kumar Gupta, Director General of AIDA and former Energy Secretary Shri Alok Kumar, Chief Engineer of CEA Shri Ishan Sharan, Chairman of IWTMA Shri Girish Tanti, Vice President of WIPPA Shri Mahesh Vipradas, Chairman of IWPA Shri T. Shivaraman, along with senior officials from the Central and State Governments and representatives of the renewable energy sector.
