EARLY DETECTION OF HIV IS MUST: DR SAIYED

HIV is a dangerous disease which causes AIDS and therefore early detection of this disease is a must stated Deputy Director of Directorate HS Dr. Shaheen Saiyed at a function organized to launch the statewide Integrated Health Campaign organized by the Goa State AIDs Control Society at Mapusa today.

Goa State AIDS Control Society in coordination with Directorate of Health Services and Urban Health Center Mapusa has launched a Statewide Integrated Health Campaign for general health checkup STI and HIV screening.

Dr Saiyed exhorting the people said that regular health checkup can help to detect disease early which can be treated on time. The HIV disease needs to be detected well in advance so as to treat it on time. The scare of HIV stigma will ruin lives, she said and stressed on the need for early diagnosis of HIV disease. She said the Government intends to provide adequate health services at the doorstep of the people and therefore the Government has launched Integrated Health Campaign throughout the State and appealed to the people to avail the benefit of this facility.

The Councillor of MMC Smt. Shubhangi Vaingankar while addressing the people said that we have to take proper care of our health. Regular checkup at every interval will help to keep us healthy. The Government she said is providing medical services at our doorstep which shows its concern towards the health of the people.

Smt. Vayangankar speaking further said that though the HIV disease is dangerous which requires early detection. She appealed to the people not to keep silent over any disease which can cost their lives. The organization of such health camps in the vicinity of people and in the interest of the people is the need of the hour and the initiative of DHS is no doubt appreciable.
