COOPERATIVE SOCIETIES SHOULD FOCUS ON AGRICULTURE AND ALLIED ACTIVITIES: SHIRODKAR

Minister for Cooperation, Shri Subhash Shirodkar, emphasized the importance of cooperative societies prioritizing agriculture and allied activities during his address at the Awards presentation ceremony for the Goa State Cooperative Award and Assistance for the year 2022-23 in the city today.
While congratulating the awardees, Shri Shirodkar recommended that cooperative societies should explore opportunities in the tourism sector.
During the event, Shri Uttam Phaldesai, Chairman, Goa state Co-operative Bank congratulated the awardees and elaborated on the criteria adopted for selecting the awardees. He emphasized the necessity of transparency, sincerity, and meticulous planning while serving in cooperative societies.
Shri Premanand Chawdikar received the ‘Sahakar Ratna’ Award, while Shri. Sattu alias Satish B. Velip was honoured with the ‘Sahakar Bhushan’ Award, and Shri Jaiwant Tukaram Adpaikar received the ‘Sahakar Shree’ Award.
Individual awards were presented to Shri Ulhas R. Fal Dessai from West Quepem V.K.S.S Society Ltd., Balli, Quepem, and Shri Chandrashekhar S. Chari from Shree Rashtroli Dudh Utpadak Saunstha, Kumayamol, Sal, Bicholim.
‘The Sattari Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd’ in Valpoi, Sattari, Goa, was honoured as the Best Cooperative Society. The First Consolation prize was awarded to ‘Kurdi Vividh Karyakari Sahakari Seva Society Ltd’ in Curdi, Vaddem, Sanguem, Goa, while the Second Consolation prize went to ‘Goa Port & Dock Employees Co-operative Credit Society Ltd’ , Vasco.
Earlier a workshop on the importance of digitization in the cooperative sector was held during the morning session.
Shri Amit Bhat, Regional Head of TJSB Bank, also attended the function along with members of Cooperative Societies.
Shri Arvind Bugde ,Registrar of Cooperative Societies welcomed the gathering while Shri Pankaj Rane Deputy Registrar (Technical) proposed the vote of thanks.
