Goa to display its tableaux in Bharat Parv, New Delhi

Couple of days ahead of the Republic Day Cultural pageantry to be held at Kartavya path, New Delhi on January 26, 2024 the tableaux of Goa State will be displayed in Bharat Parv to be organized at the Red Fort New Delhi by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India from January 23 to January 31, 2024.
Bharat Parv is being organized to celebrate the spirit of India i.e unity in Diversity. This festival generates patriotic fervour and showcases the rich and varied cultural diversity of the country.
Bharat Parv is being held in New Delhi since 2016 as part of the Republic Day Celebrations. The Republic Day Parade in New Delhi is the largest and most important of the parades marking the Republic Day Celebrations in India. The first Parade was held in 1950 and it is being held every year. The Cultural programme is a symbol of a diverse but united India. The Parade Marches from the Rashtrapathi Bhavan on the Kartavya path to India Gate and from there to Red fort on January 26 every year. A full dress rehearsal parade is organized on January 23 every year performed with pomp and gaiety. It stands as a tribute to India, Its unity in diversity and rich cultural heritage.
The State Government has selected well known artist Shri. Sushant Khedekar Ponda – Goa to the work related to conceptualization, designing, fabrication and presentation/display of Goa tableaux during the 9 days Bharat Parv scheduled in the National Capital, New Delhi. The tableau of Goa revolves around the theme Vikasit Goa, Vikasit Bharat, depicting Tapaloka Yog Kshetra, Goa’s Marine Life and Jal Jeevan Mission.
This year apart from Goa State the Ministry of Defence has invited the States of Assam, Karnataka, Uttrakhand,Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir to display their tableaux in Bharat Parv, a mega event being held annually at the Lawns and Gyan Path in front of Red Fort. In 2021 it was held virtually on account of covid pandemic. The event includes a food festival, a Handicraft Mela, Folk and tribal dance performances, cultural troupe performances, a display of Republic day tableaux and the Illumination of the Red Fort among other things.
This grand parade that takes place every year on January 26 in the National Capital is the main attraction of India’s Republic Day Celebrations. The tradition dates back to January 26, 1950 when India was declared a Republic and the Indian Constitution came into effect.
The fabrication work of Goa tableaux has already been commenced at Rashtriya Rangshala camp. The team of 40 artisans including carpenters, designers, sculptor and fabricators led by Shri. Sushant Khedekar, are working tirelessly round the clock to see that the work of fabrication of tableaux is completed in all respects by January22, 2024. So far 60 percent work of tableau has been completed.
This year the Republic Day Cultural pageantry will see participation of sixteen States from across the country. These includes Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and the Union Territory of Ladakh. The tableaux of these States will start from the Rashtrapathi Bhavan on the kartavya path wending its way to India Gate and from there to Red Fort. Besides this, there will be nine Tableaux of different Ministries this year.
It may be noted that at the State level committee headed by the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has selected the design of Shri. Sushant Khedekar. The said committee was constituted to scrutinize designs of individual artistes, art students and tableaux contractors, besides to evaluate technical aspects of designs.
The Goa tableau will be displayed under the auspices of Department of information and publicity.
