DSDE holds workshop on Industry Connect

A Workshop on Industry Connect for the Hospitality sector was organized by the Directorate of skill and Development and Entrepreneurship (DSDE), Cansaulim – Arossim recently. Goa being a Tourism Hub, the Directorate is focusing to enhance the training quality and placement opportunities in the hospitality sector by organising initiatives to connect various industry partners by signing MoU’s.
Shri Dipak Desai, Director DSDE, Goa, during his keynote address informed that Directorate has signed MoU’s with 39 different industry partners, out of which 13 are leading hotels. He further deliberated on various clauses of MoU signed like conducting of campus interview, hiring of apprentices, participation in placement fair and Apprenticeship Bharti Mela, offering regular or contract jobs to ITI’s pass outs, conducting Train the Training program for Trainers of ITI’s, Mentor/Consultant to support DSDE GOA to upgrade its skilling programs at ITI’s, industrial visits and on Job training to ITI trainees.
Shri. Guitry Velho, Vice President – Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG South), and Shri. Jack Sukhija, Vice President – TTAG North Goa briefed on the purpose of this workshop and scenario of Hospitality industry in Goa.
Officials from different leading hotels present for this function shared their views on effective training and placements/apprenticeship opportunities. The queries regarding registration on apprenticeship portal, engagement of apprentices etc. were replied to by a concerned officer of the Directorate.
DSDE under its ambit has 10 Government ITI’s and 3 Private ITI’s imparting training in various engineering and non engineering trade courses and approximately 5000 trainees are undergoing training in 42 trades in the State of Goa.
The purpose of Industry Connect is to fill the gap between the Department and Industry and to provide the skilled manpower to the Industry as per the requirement/demand, and to provide employment to youth of Goa. Department has started many new courses as per changing industry scenario like Drone Technician, Mechanic E-Vehicle etc. The department is also conducting TracerStudy to trace employment status and location of pass-out trainees.
