CM inaugurates University of Legal Education & Research

Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant today inaugurated India International University of Legal Education and Research (IIULER) by BAR Council India Trust-Pearl First at Kala Bhavan, Sancaole.
The University aims to develop legal education on par with international standards and provide comprehensive justice education thereby making accomplished advocates and judges for the society.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant expressed hope that IIULER will bring new reforms in legal education sector of the State. The university will help to introduce new educational courses of international standards in the State, he added.
State Government has alloted 50 acres of land at Dharbandora to build new campus for IIULER and till such time the campus is ready, it will commence it’s academic courses for the year 2022 -23 at Kala Bhavan, Sancoale.
Judge, Supreme Court of India, Justice B. R. Gavai in his address lauded the State Government for being proactive in providing assistance to set up IIULER in Goa. This will be the only University of Law in India which have international standards, he added. Law has been substantially developed in the country and have well acclaimed judgements to it’s credit, he pointed.
Chairman, BCI Trust, Shri. Manan Kumar Mishra informing about the aims and objectives of IIULER said that admissions for academic year 2022-23 will commence soon through entrance exam. 20 percent seats will be reserved for goan students, he remarked.
Judge, Supreme Court of India Justice Surya Kant, Justice M. M. Sunderesh, Justice M. S. Sonak, Advocate General, Adv Devidas Pangam also spoke on the occasion.
Minister for Law Shri. Nilesh Cabral, MLA’s Shri. Antonio Vas and Shri. Daji Salkar, Member of Parliament, Shri. Vinay Tendulkar, Commissioner for NRI Affairs Adv. Narendra Sawaikar, MLA Shri. Antonio Vas, MLA Shri. Daji Salkar, Sarpanch Sancoale Panchayat Shri. Girish Pillai, senior judges, senior advocates were present on the occasion.
