HEALTH MELA HELD AT SANKHALIM

Health Mela organized by Directorate of Health Services, Community Health Centre Sankhalim today as a part of celebration of `Azadi ka Amrit Mahostav` which coincided with 4th Anniversary of Ayushman Bharat-Health & Wellness Centre was inaugurated by Spouse of Chief Minister Smt Sulakshana Sawant.

Speaking on the occasion Smt Sulakshana Sawant informed that the Directorate of Health Services will organize Block Health Melas at Pernem and Canacona and urged all the locals of Pernem and Canacona to avail benefits of this health Mela.

Speak ing further, she said mental wellbeing is an essential component of holistic health. Many times whenever we treat patients we only see their physical well-being, but mental well-being is very important. Government has also appointed councilors at district level, she added.

She appealed to all the health officers to counsel their patients while treating. Counseling will help them to deal with issues like depression, anxiety, stress, and many more. She also highlighted the tremendous work done by all the health workers during
Covid- 19 Pandemic.

Health Mela comprises various Medicine and OPDs for general public, Laboratory Services, Pharmacy, Awareness (IEC) activities. The
Directorate of Food & Drugs Administration, the Directorate of Education, Panchayat, Art and Culture and other Departments extended
their support for promoting the Health for All movement.

Dr Rupa Naik in her address explaining various schemes and initiatives taken by the government in the health sector said that the government is organizing various camps, awareness programmes for the public. People have to support and participate in such events, she added.

The function commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp and a welcome address by Health Officer Dr. Uttam Dessai

Present on the occasion were Health officer Dr. Uttam Dessia, Dr Rupa Naik CMO, and Shri. Gopal Surlakar

Dr Kalpita Potdar compered the function while Dr Atul proposed the vote of thanks.
