APARANT SURAKSHITA BHAVAN INAUGURATED TO STRENGTHEN WORKPLACE SAFETY AND INDUSTRIAL GOVERNANCE IN GOA

Reinforcing the Government of Goa’s commitment to safer workplaces and modern public infrastructure, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant today inaugurated Aparant Surakshita Bhavan, the new office of the Inspectorate of Factories & Boilers, at Altinho, Panaji. Developed by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) at a cost of ₹13.53 crore, the facility will strengthen occupational safety, improve regulatory services and enhance public service delivery.

The inauguration marks another milestone in the Government’s efforts to build modern and citizen-centric institutions. Aparant Surakshita Bhavan brings all key wings of the Inspectorate under one roof, enabling better coordination and faster services. The facility houses advanced safety testing laboratories, dedicated training and conference facilities, and modern administrative infrastructure. It will strengthen industrial compliance, promote workplace safety, support ease of doing business and contribute towards the vision of a Swayampurna Goa.

Highlighting the significance of the new facility, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said, “Aparant Surakshita Bhavan reflects our commitment to modern governance, safer workplaces and stronger institutions. Our commitment goes beyond infrastructure to building safer workplaces, skilled manpower and stronger institutions. Worker safety is not merely a legal obligation but the foundation of sustainable industrial development. Investment in occupational safety is an investment in Goa’s workforce and future.” He also noted that the Inspectorate of Factories & Boilers has trained more than 16,000 workers, students and industry professionals over the past five years, strengthening occupational safety awareness across the State.

The building comprises a basement, ground floor and first floor with a total built-up area of 2,369.39 square metres. It houses administrative offices, inspection and technical sections, advanced safety testing laboratories, an Occupational Health Laboratory, a library, a mini conference room and a dedicated training hall. The facility also includes barrier-free amenities, waiting areas, landscaped spaces and parking facilities, ensuring a modern and accessible environment for officers, industry stakeholders and citizens.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Hon’ble Minister Shri Nilkanth Halarnkar, Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services and Factories & Boilers; Shri Rohit Kadam, GCS, Managing Director, Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) Ltd; Shri Sanjiv M. Gadkar, IAS, Secretary, Factories & Boilers Department; Shri Anant S. Pangam, Chief Inspector of Factories & Boilers; Smt. Pratima Dhond, President of GCCI, representatives of various industries, senior government officials and other distinguished guests.
