WCD SALCETE CONDUCTS WORKSHOP ON BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO

The Office of Women and Child Development, Block Salcete conducted a one-day Capacity Building Workshop for Diverse Stakeholders under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative at Mathany Saldanha Administrative Complex Margao, yesterday.

The workshop was inaugurated by the Director, Women and Child Development Smt. Jyoti Desai along with Child Development Project Officer Smt.Gauri Parob, Deputy Chief, District Legal Services Authority, South Goa Adv.Harshita Dessai, Medical Officer, UHC, Margao Dr.Baptist Mascarenhas.

The workshop was conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Women and Child Development with the objective of strengthening awareness and enhancing the capacity of various stakeholders towards the effective implementation of the BBBP programme.

Director, WCD Smt Jyoti Desai highlighted that BBBP campaign launched in 2015, has brought significant progress in promoting welfare and empowerment of girl child and to improving girl child sex ratio in the State. Although lot have been done towards welfare of women and child development, still sustained efforts and community participation is required to achieve the real goal of BBBP campaign, she added.

CDPO, Smt.Gauri Parob expressing the importance of the BBBP campaign informed about awareness and outreach activities undertaken by the Office of Women and Child Development, Block Salcete. She appealed all stakeholders under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative to extend all the support ensuring the protection, education and empowerment of girl child.

Dr. Baptist Mascarenhas, Nutrition Officer Smt.Melkiza Furtado, Adv. Harshita Dessai, Adv. Prashila Borkar, Adv. Shruti Kerkar and Police Inspector Shri. Vidyanand Pawar conducted interactive sessions focusing on legal awareness, health and nutrition, child protection, Cyber Crime against Child and coordinated efforts for the successful implementation of the BBBP campaign.

Officials from different Government Departments, representatives from Panchayats and Municipality and other organisations participated in the workshop.
