CM Inaugurates Railway Subways & Foot Over Bridge at Curchorem

Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant inaugurated Limited Height Subways at Kamral and Khandiwada and Foot Over Bridge at Sanvordem Curchorem Railway Station constructed by South Western Railway and Railway Vikas Nigam Limited today.
Both subways at Kamral and Khadiwada were the long pending demands and the villagers facing hardships for vehicular access for years together will be permanently solved with the construction of these subways. The underpass at Khandiwada will provide great relief for the road users as they can ride through the underpass without having to wait at the Level Crossing gates, when closed during movement of railway traffic. The subway at Kamral will provide relief to the people since one portion of the village having around 70 houses were landlocked between the railway line and a river for the last several years.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant reiterated the efforts put up by the Government to meet the infrastructural needs of its people. He said Sanvordem and Curchorem – twin cities – will be developed with innovative infrastructural projects in coming future.
Dr Sawant said, any project which will be benefit the State and it’s people should not be opposed just for the sake of showing opposition. People should think and support such projects that will benefit the State and it’s people and also boost economy. Speaking regarding double tracking of the railway track in the State, he said Government is ready to rehabilitate people, if houses are getting damaged. Compensation will be given for other losses. He further said double tracking of railway line is not done for coal transportation but will help to increase tourism and other import export of pharmaceutical companies and other commodities. The import export of Goan industries which is done through JNP Port, Mumbai will be diverted through Mormugao Port making optimum use of it he said. Tourism projects will also start from Mormugao Port soon he said. Tamnar Power Project, Railway line doubling and four lanning of the road are the major projects that will definitely benefit people of the State and it’s economy Dr. Sawant said.
Government is undertaking infrastructure looking at its requirements for the next 25 years. Issues, if any, can be solved through discussions and not though agitations he said.
Power Minister, Shri Nilesh Cabral said, people of Curchorem never opposed railway line doubling project as they understand the benefits which our State and its people will derive through it. People of Curchorem constituency are ready with open arms to welcome the IIT Project and urged the Government to consider their demand.
PWD Minister, Shri Dipak Pauskar said, double tracking of railway line will boost tourism sector of the State. He said Railways is developing various infrastructure related projects from Castle rock in Karnataka to Vasco da Gama route which will definitely benefit the local people.
Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Shri Vinay Tendulkar said, people should not fall pray to negative propaganda against infrastructural projects.
Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, General Manager, South Western Railways was felicitated on the occasion.
Shri Arvind Malkhede, Hubali Divisional Railway Manager; Shri Hari Shankar Verma, Principal Chief Operations Manager; Shri P K Kshatriya, Chief Project Manager, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited and other senior officers of Railways were present on the occasion.
