NATIONAL SEMINAR ON COLLABORATIVE SCHOOL LEADERSHIP HELD AT DONA PAULA

The Goa State Council of Educational Research and Training (GSCERT) in collaboration with the Goa Headmaster Association, organised a One-Day National Seminar at Lok Bhavan, Dona Paula. The seminar was organised as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional leadership and enhance the overall quality of school education in the State.

The seminar was held on the theme “Collaborative School Leadership: A Way to Transform Educational Topography.” The event brought together education experts, school heads, teachers, and key stakeholders to deliberate on strengthening school education through collaborative leadership. Discussions focused on curriculum reforms, institutional leadership practices, system-level collaboration, and the effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in the Goan context.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Prasad V. Lolayekar, Secretary (Education), emphasised that successful implementation of NEP 2020 requires not only a thorough understanding of the policy but also alignment with Goa’s unique geography, culture, and educational realities. Highlighting the crucial role of headmasters as the key link between the Education Department, managements, parents, and students, he stressed that strong, innovative, and dynamic school leadership is essential to ensure quality education.

He further noted that NEP 2020 prioritises quality, equity, access, and affordability, and called for a shift from competition to collaboration among schools. He encouraged resource sharing, continuous teacher development, and collective efforts to achieve meaningful transformation in the education sector.

Zingde, Director, Directorate of Education, Smt Meghana Shetgaonkar, Director, GSCERT, Smt Sarita Gadgil, Director (Administration), GSCERT, Shri Sunil Bajaj, Additional Director, SCERT Haryana, Shri Rabin Chettri, Retired Director, SCERT Sikkim, Prof. F. M. Nadaf, Principal, Autonomous College of Multidisciplinary Studies and Research, Margao-Goa, and Smt Mable Da Costa, President, Goa Headmasters’ Association.
