REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATED AT MAPUSA

Minister for Tourism, Revenue and IT, Shri Rohan Khaunte unfurled the National tri-colour to mark the 77th Republuc Day Celebrations at Mapusa District headquarters, today.
While speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that it’s not just a day to celebrate the adoption and enforcement of the Indian Constitution which set down founding principles of liberty, equality and fraternity but also to strengthen our resolve to make our country self-reliant.
“Goa has already taken steps to become Swayampurna under the leadership of Dr Pramod Sawant, ” Shri Khaunte said adding, “It fills me with great pride to say that welfare services and facilities are reaching to the common man,” he said citing examples of the ‘Mhaje Ghar’ scheme which he said was not just about four walls of a house but assuring peace and security to the common man in the form of land ownership.
Shri Khaunte said that the Government is assisting the farming community through facilities like organic farming and water conservation initiatives.
“The Government is working on principles of antyodaya he said. Schemes in planning like the Viksit Bharat Gramin Yojgar, will help generate employment opportunities, ” he said.
“Goa is striving to implement responsible tourism policies through regenerative tourism and reforms in policies. Statistics show an increase in tourists post Covid, however, we are not just focusing on increasing figures but are trying our best to attract quality tourists,” Shri Khaunte said.
On the occasion, people from various fields like art, music etc were felicitated. Among them were senior journalists Shri Gurudas Sawal, Shri Shekhar Vaingankar, Shri Venkatesh Shankwalkar, late Gurudas Singbal, Shri Satish Naik and Shri Pramod Khandeparker.
Deputy Collector I, Ms Varsha Parab, Deputy Collector II, Dabholkar Vasant Prasad, Bardez Mamlatdar, Shri Anant Malik among others were present.
