ASMITAI DIS (OPINION POLL DAY) TO BE CELEBRATED ON JAN 16 AT IMB

Directorate of Official Language will celebrate State level “Asmitai Dis” (Opinion Poll Day) programme on January 16, 2026 at 9: 30. a.m. at Main hall, Institute Menezes Braganza, Panaji. The programme is organised in collaboration with Goa State Biodiversity Board, Saligao, Goa State Council of Science and Technology, Saligao and Directorate of Planning, Statistics and Evaluation, Porvorim. Chief Minister and Minister for Official Language, Dr. Pramod Sawant, Minister for Science, technology and Waste Management Shri. Atanasio Monserrate along with other dignitaries will grace the occassion.
During the function, the applicants of the GI-tagged Goan products/items will be felicitated by the Chief Minister. Also, ‘Kaushalya Mitra Card’ will be presented to the individuals engaged in traditional Goan occupations such as cultivators and phulkars, Goan vegetable vendors, padeli/toddy tappers, salt pan cultivators, fishermen, traditional healers, poder, traditional jaggery makers, handicrafts from coconut-malla, coconut shells, coir etc, unique occupations-bamboo workers, grass mat makers, khajekar, shewkar, fowkar, chanekar, bankar etc.
An exhibition of GI-tagged Goan products has also been organised on the occasion. The event will also feature an exhibition and sale of GoVan products of the Goa State Biodiversity Board. A book exhibition will also be organised. After the inaugural function, a musical programme ‘Asmitechi Geetam’ will be presented by Directorate of Art and Culture and Goa Konkani Akademi.
Along with the main event, various events have also been organised by grantee institutions across the state to mark the Asmitai Dis. Programmes will be held by Goa Konkani Akademi, Dalgado Konknni Akademi, Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Goa and All India Konkani Parishad.
Goa Konkani Akademi will organise Asmitecho Bhesrang programme at 9.00 a.m. at Chetana Education Society’s School for Special Children, Curchorem. Also, an elocution competition on the topic ‘Asmitai Aani Tarnate’ has been organised at 10.00 a.m. at PM Shri Government High School, Thane – Sattari in collaboration with Sahitya Manthan, Sattari and PM Shri Government High School, Thane – Sattari. In addition to these, various programmes have also been organised by Goa Konkani Akademi.
Dalgado Konkani Akademi will organise Konkani Geet Sangeet at 9.30 a.m. at St. Thomas Church Hall, Caunsaulim and Kovita Saanj at 3.30 p.m. at Panaji.
Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Goa will hold a Quiz Contest at Konkani Bhavan, Margao from 8.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon and a cultural Programme will be held from 12 noon to 1 p.m. A cultural programme will be held in the evening from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the auditorium of Gomant Vidya Niketan, Margao in collaboration with
Akhil Bharatiya Konkani Parishad has organised different competitions and cultural programme for schools and higher secondary schools in Quepem Taluka in collaboration with organisations of Quepem and Curchorem area.
Various competitions, awareness programmes, and other events have also been organised by schools and colleges across the State. The Directorate of Official Language has appealed to all to attend the programme in large number.
