RAJ BHAVAN RENAMED ‘LOK BHAVAN’ IN GOA

The Raj Bhavan, Goa henceforth will be known as Lok Bhavan from December 19, 2025, in conformity with the adoption of this nomenclature for Raj Bhavans across the country. The renaming signifies a conscious shift away from colonial-era terminology and reflects the people-centric character of India’s constitutional governance. The name Lok Bhavan underscores the institution’s role as a public office dedicated to the service of citizens.

The implementation of this change on Goa Liberation Day lends added significance, as the occasion commemorates Goa’s liberation and its integration into the democratic framework of the nation, thereby aligning national institutional reform with Goa’s historic legacy of freedom.
