Chief Minister Lauds Services of Navy And Coast Guards

The placement of the IL 38 Frame No. 303 in a Museum would greatly inspire the youths of Goa to consider a career in the Armed Forces stated Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant in the series of direct interactions held with Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard programme at Secretariat, Porvorim today. It would be good if the Navy involves more youth of Goa in their outreach programmes, Chief Minister added.

The Chief Minister praised the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard during his interaction with Central Government entities.

The Navy was represented by Flag Officer Goa Area Radm. Phillipose G. Pynumootil, Ati Vishistha Seva Medal, Nausena Medal and Commander District 11 COMDIS Goa DIG Himanshu Nautiyal of the Coast Guard.

The Navy and Coast Guard have rendered Yeoman Services to the State of Goa be it humanitarian assistance or relief operations during floods, medical emergencies, safety of life at sea. During times of Covid-19 the Naval Aircraft were constantly moving and getting much needed supplies from New Delhi. The Navy and coast Guard have been conducting medical camps as an outreach programme with the citizens of Goa. The Chief Minister impressed with the regular interaction of the Navy and the Coast Guard with our youth.

The Chief Minister expressed concern over the damage being caused to sensitive equipments of the Navy placed in and around Grandi Island. He directed Fisheries Department and Coastal Police to enforce the no fishing notification. He further, directed that the area will be declared as a restricted zone as precautionary measure.

The Chief Minister reminded the Navy and Coast Guard Officials that under the Prime Minister Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign the State Government has also initiated efforts for Swayampurna Goa. The Navy and Coast Guard Officers assured the Chief Minister to extend their whole hearted co-operation for the 60th year of Goa Liberation.
