CM TO CONFER LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD ON ALEXYZ

Department of Information and Publicity on the occasion of foundation of Press Council of India will be celebrating National Press Day on November 17, 2025 at 10.00 a.m onwards at Institute of Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji.

Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant will attend the event in the presence of Commissioner cum Secretary, Information and Publicity Shri Sarpreet Singh Gill, IAS and other dignitaries.

DIP will be organizing the event in collaboration with Goa Union of Journalist, Editors Guild, Photo Journalist Association of Goa, Sports Journalist Association of Goa, Electronic Media Journalist Association of Goa and South Goa Journalist Association.

On the occasion, eminent Journalist and Renowned Cartoonist Shri Alexyz (Alex Fernandes) will be bestowed with the Life-time Achievement Award for his selfless and lifelong contribution towards journalism.

Beside five eminent journalists namely Shri Joel Afonso (Editor, The Goan Everyday), Shri Jai Naik (Senior Journalist, Tarun Bharat), Shri Atul Pandit (Senior Journalist, Bhaangar Bhuin), Shri Baban Bhagat (Senior Journalist, Navprabha), Shri Nandesh Kambli (Senior Photo journalist, The Navhind Times) will be felicitated for their noteworthy contribution in the field of Journalism.

The programme also include prize distribution of photo contest and Goa State Journalist Awards in various reporting categories organized by the Information and Publicity.

The programme will be followed by Panel discussion on the topic ‘Women in Journalism, Challenges and Opportunities’ eminent Journalist Smt. Devika Sequeira, Smt. Gauree Malkarnekar (Assistant Metro Editor, The Times of India), Smt. Sangeeta Naik (Digital Goa News Service), Smt. Diana Fernandes (Senior Journalist, The Navhind Times), Smt. Pradnya Gaonkar Rane (Composing Editor Doordarshan) will be participating in the discussion.
