WRD Minister Reviews Water Distribution Issues of Salauli Dam and Inspects Paroda Canal

Minister for Water Resources Department (WRD), Shri Subhash A Shirodkar, conducted an on-site assessment visit to review issues pertaining to water distribution from the Salauli Dam and also inspected the Paroda Canal today.
Key Highlights of the Visit
Officials Present: The meeting and site visit were attended by Shri Dyaneshwar Salelkar, Chief Engineer, WRD, Executive Engineers, and other senior officials of the department.
– Focus on Command Area (Salauli Dam): The Hon’ble Minister reviewed the water distribution scenario with the objective of ensuring sufficient water supply to the command area of Salauli Dam.
Directions were issued to facilitate water supply benefiting additional 500 farmers in the upcoming cropping season from Salauli Dam’s D1 Canal in the command area.
Promotion of Cash Crops: It is targeted that villages having Panivatap Sansthawill cultivate at least five vegetable crops as cash crops, boosting local agricultural economy.
Paroda Canal Inspection: The Hon’ble Minister also inspected the Paroda Canal, assessing its condition and water carrying capacity for irrigation purposes and issued directives to officials for effective implementation of measures ensuring adequate water availability from these systems.
The visit underscores the government’s focus on optimal utilization of water resources for agricultural development and supporting farmers in Goa, enhancing water management in key areas like Salauli Dam and Paroda Canal.
