KADAMBA BUSES ARE GOA’S LIFELINE: CM

The Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant credited Kadamba buses for playing a huge role in the social economic progress of the State. The Chief Minister was speaking at 45th Anniversary celebrations of the Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTCL) held at the KTC Bus stand Complex in Panaji, today. Dr. Sawant while speaking on the occasion called Kadamba buses as the lifeline of Goa focussing on service rather than profit making. “Kadamba buses have always been passenger centric,” said Dr Sawant.
The Chief Minister said that KTC services have helped people aross the State and lauded the staff of Kadamba for their dedicated service. Dr Sawant informed that digitisation is being done at full swing in KTCL and urged people to avail of monthly passes and the Smart Transit Cards. The Chief Minister further said that KTCL will increase its fleet of electric buses to ensure a clean and green Goa. Dr Sawant urged private bus operators to avail of the Government’s ‘Mhaji Bus’ scheme where various incentives are provided to bus owners in a bid to modernise public transport in Goa.
Dr Sawant assured to take steps to strengthen the Kadamba Corporation and said that the issue of pending dues to retired as well current staff of KTCL is being looked into. He said that welfare of KTCL staff is always a priority and facilities like refresher courses, stress management measures etc will be provided.
The Minister for Transport, Shri Mauvin Godinho while speaking on the occasion, expressed happiness seeing more people choosing Kadamba bus services over private transport. He informed that as part of modernizing public transport system in Goa, Kadamba Transport has been adopting digitisation in earnest and will soon introduce the electronic tracking of buses, geo mapping of routes etc to furthering achieve the same.
MLA of Navelim and Chairperson of KTCL, Shri Ulhas Tuenkar, appreciated the KTCL staff for doing good work. He informed the gathering of the decision to scrap 280 old Kadamba buses and introduce around 100 electric buses on various routes by 2027. He thanked the Government for always being responsive to the needs of KTCL.
Earlier, a puja of the first KTC bus was done in the presence of the dignitaries. Meritorious children of employees of KTCL were felicitated on the occasion.
