Department of Home has declared that the sector of manufacturing, packaging, distribution and transportation of pharmaceutical products and components thereof to be an essential service for the purpose under Goa Essential Services Maintenance Act, 1988.

Government is of opinion that strikes in manufacturing, packing, distribution and transportation of pharmaceutical products and components thereof, would prejudicially affect the maintenance supplies and services necessary for the life of the community and would result in the infliction of grave hardship on the community.
