CM URGES REVENUE OFFICERS TO BE PEOPLE FRIENDLY

Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant reviewed the works of Revenue Department with an objective to address work pendency with regards to mutation cases, conversion, illegal constructions, agricultural compensation, mundakarial cases, tenancy cases etc. and also to learn about the problems faced by the officers at the Secretariat yesterday.
While addressing the meeting the Chief Minister asserted that the Revenue Department is an important Department having a direct approach with the general public. Major works of the general public are addressed here, he said and stressed on the need that the officers of this department need to be people friendly. The general public should have the faith and hopeful of getting their work done, he added.
The Chief Minister urged the officers like Deputy Collectors and Mamlatdars, experienced with their long term of service career to inform about the necessary administrative reforms from time to time, thereby helping the Government to simplify the procedures to delivery time bound and effective services to the people. He impressed upon the fact that there are huge encroachments on Government land which needs to be arrested and corrective measures adopted.
The Chief Minister assured to redress their grievances pertaining to shortage of vehicle, staff will be addressed soon.
The Revenue Minister, Smt Jenifer Monserrate thanking the officers said Revenue Department is the important department which deals with the public directly. This is the Department which takes up works of public interest. The smooth functioning of this Department will help to improve the image of the Government. She appreciated the officers for working beyond office hours and appealed to work together to render yeomen services to the public.
Chief Secretary, Shri Parimal Rai IAS urged the officers to put themselves in the shoes of the person who comes to their office having problem and sense the intensity of his grief and advised them to be people friendly. People should feel relaxed about getting their works done. The competence and effective functioning of the Government lies on this Department. He said they are quasi judicial authorities have power to control and maintain law and a order by their own and can also take up welfare works and suggested them to learn their powers and act accordingly.
Secretary Revenue Shri Sanjay Kumar IAS said the revenue Department of Goa is in better shape than that of others in the country. He said the reputation of the Government depends upon the top officers of the administration and sought cooperation for giving modern face to the Revenue Department of Goa. Stressing on reducing the pendency of work, Shri Kumar advised them to study the Acts which empowers them to certain decisions in the interest of the public.
