Panaji: February 17, 2021
Keeping up his promise to the children of Freedom Fighters, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant announced that the 24 children of Freedom fighters will be absorbed in government service in the first phase.
A decision to this effect was taken at the State Cabinet, held on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister said that while the cabinet granted its approval to recruit 24 children of Freedom fighters into government job, remaining 223 would be absorbed under Goa Human Resource Development Corporation.
Dr Sawant said that in the first phase 24 children of Freedom fighters would be recruited in various government departments. “The others would be initially absorbed under GHRDC and would be accommodated later in the government service as and when posts are created,” he said.
The children of Freedom fighters were on fast unto death last month demanding that they be recruited in government service as per law.
In another decision, the Cabinet decided to hold the Budget session of Goa Legislative Assembly, on March 24. “The budget session of Goa Assembly will start from March 24 and will continue for longer period,” said CM Sawant. However, he added, the agenda for the budget session was yet to be approved by the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), comprising representatives of all political parties.
The Cabinet also decided to grant a further six-month extension to offshore casinos to operate in River Mandovi, as the government is yet to identify an alternative site for their relocation.
“We have granted another 6 months extension to the off shore casinos which allows them to operate in Mandovi river by another 6 months,” informed CM
