UNITY WALK IN HONOUR OF SARDAR VALLABHBHAI PATEL HELD IN PANAJI

The North Goa District-level ‘Sardar@ 150 Unity March’ padyatra organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs was flagged off in Panaji today with students from various educational institutions and NSS Units gathering at the Azad Maidan in Panaji and making their way through the city culminating at Miramar circle. The students were administered the Atma Nirbhar Bharat pledge. In commemoration of the 150 anniversary of the National Song, the song ‘Vande Mataram’ was sung.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was President of the North Goa Zilla Panchayat, Shri Dhaku Madkaikar, who urged the students to emulate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel saying that his ideals and values have relevance even today and is needed to be followed to build a good society and strong and United nation.

Recalling the achievements of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Shri Madkaikar said that the principles of this great leader have to be followed if one wants to be successful in life.

The unity walk held to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the ‘Ironman of India’. aimed at promoting and fostering national unity and nation building, and a sense of civic responsibility among citizens, especially the youth.

Present were Secretary, Sports, Shri Santosh Sukhadeve, IAS, Assistant Director, (Physical Education, North), DSYA, Shri Dinesh Desai, among others.

Earlier, Director of DSYA, Dr Ajay Gaude, welcomed the gathering while Deputy Director, Dr Vivek Pawar, proposed the vote of thanks.
