SEVEN PANCHAYATS ACHIEVES ISO CERTIFICATES

In transforming local Governance into a professional, citizen centric and transparent system seven Village Panchayats in the State received ISO certification at a programme organised by the Goa Institute of Public Administration & Rural Development and Directorate of Panchayat held at Secretariat, Porvorim today.
Minister for Panchayat Shri. Mauvin Godinho awarded the ISO Certificates to seven Panchayats namely Volvoi, Sarzora, Sao Matias, Keri-Terekhol, Menkurem- Dhumase, Harvalem and Chicalim reflecting the efficient public service delivery.
Minister Shri. Godinho expressing satisfaction over achievement by the Panchayats said that, ISO Certification has made the seven Panchayats to achieve higher standards of administrative practices and this needs to be maintained by them forever.
Minister also informed that another 41 Village Panchayats are in the process of obtaining ISO certification. Achieving ISO Certification for Panchayats has certainly boosted the commitment of local self-government bodies towards better, transparent and vibrant public service.
`Let’s make the Goa different by achieving higher standards in delivering public services at the grass root level`, Shri. Godinho added.
Director, GIPARD Shri. Vasudev Shetye highlighted the key achievements of GIPARD in upgrading the services and standards of administrative set ups at Village Panchyats. He also informed about of various initiatives implemented for ISO certification for Panchayat bodies.
Sarpanch, Volvoi Panchayat Shri. Vinayak Vengurlekar lauded the efforts of GIPARD and Directorate of Panchayats in implementing the process of ISO certification which would transform the administration of local bodies drastically.
ISO Consultant and lead Auditor Shri. Adrian Simoes said that Panchayats achieving ISO certificates has to perform citizens centric. Attaining ISO should be the beginning for the Panchaayats, they should sustained it by consistent efforts.
Retired Senior Bureaucrat Shri. N.D. Agrawal was present on the occasion. Director, Panchayat Shri. Mahadev Aroundekar proposed vote of thanks.
