RANE REVOLT COMMEMORATED AT NANUS

Guard of honour was presented at the historic Nanus Fort in Sattari taluka in North Goa district on the occasion of Republic Day today to commemorate a major revolt against the Portuguese rule that took place in 1852.

Poriem MLA Dr Deviya Rane attended a solemn function organized by Department of Home to mark the Rane revolt.

Dr. Deviya Rane laid a wreath on the memorial of the historic Rane revolt.

The revolt took place in 1852 against the Portuguese rule and the fort was captured on January 26, 1852.

As we celebrate our nation’s Republic Day Dr. Deviya Rane said let’s remember the sacrifices and bravery of our freedom fighters, like Dipaji Rane. It’s important that we preserve historical sites like the Nanuz Fort and the Rane Revolt Memorial, so that future generations can learn and be inspired by our rich history. Let’s come together to protect and honor our heritage Dr. Deviya Rane added.

Shri Laxmikant Kuttikar, Deputy Collector, Valpoi and other dignitaries placed the rose petals on the memorial. Police Guard of Honour paid the compliments.

The solemn function was attended by the Former Deputy Speaker Shri Narahari Haldankar, ZP Members, Sarpanch, Panch, freedom fighters, Government officials, prominent personalities and the students of Shree Ram High School, Khadki, Sattari and others.
