NO. 1 GOA NAVAL NCC UNIT CELEBRATES 150 YEARS OF ‘VANDE MATARAM’

The No. 1 Goa Naval NCC Unit celebrated the 150th anniversary of the National song ‘Vande Mataram’ with great patriotic fervour at the Multipurpose Sports Stadium in Pernem. The event witnessed the participation of around 600 Naval NCC cadets from various schools and colleges across the state, who came together to honour the timeless national song that inspired India’s freedom struggle and continues to strengthen national unity.
The celebration commenced with a ceremonial parade and the hoisting of the NCC ensign, followed by a stirring collective rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ that filled the venue with pride and emotion.
Addressing the gathering, the Commanding Officer, No. 1 Goa Naval Unit NCC, highlighted the enduring relevance of Vande Mataram, stating,
“The song ‘Vande Mataram’ reminds us that true patriotism lies in selfless service, unity, and dedication to our motherland. As cadets, you are the torchbearers of that spirit — disciplined, committed, and ever ready to serve the nation with pride.”
The ANOs (Associate NCC Officers) and CTOs (Care Taker Officers) were lauded for their mentorship and commitment to guiding the cadets. The event concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to uphold the values of patriotism, integrity, and unity in every sphere of life.
