DIP BIDS FAREWELL TO ESTIBEIRO, SR PHOTOGRAPHER

The Department of Information and Publicity bid farewell to their senior photographer, Shri Silvestre S. Estibeiro, on superannuation of service after serving the Department for 37 years. Shri Estibeiro, an alumnus from the Goa College of Art, Altinho, specialized in Applied Art and joined the Department as a Bromide Printer and rose to become a senior photographer. Recognizing his achievements, he was feted by the Phonda Patrakar Sangh and Antruz Patrakar Sangh, Ponda, in 2014. In 2024, he was bestowed with the ‘Patrakar Mitra’ for his contribution in the field of journalism by Quepem Sanguem Parrikar Sangh, Curchorem.

Some of the highlights of his career include covering three Expositions of St Francis Xavier, Third edition of Lusofonia Games in 2014, the Eight BRICS Summit held in 2016, among other events held in Goa. Shri Estibeiro is a multi-talented person known for his singing and his contribution to the Mando tradition. As part of the Panaji Church choir, he sang for Pope John Paul II and Mother Teresa, both who were later canonized as saints, on their visits to Goa. Shri Estibeiro is the son of Shri Custodio Estibeiro, the first official photographer of the Department, erstwhile known as the Department of Information and Tourism.

While speaking at the farewell, Director, Department of Information and Publicity, Shri Dipak M. Bandekar thanked Shri Estibeiro for his services to the Department and wished him the best in life.

Information Officer, Shri Allwyn X. Pereira recalled fond memories of working with Shri Estibeiro and wished him good health and a long life in the years ahead. Present were Office Superintendent, Shri Sailesh Naik, officials and staff of the Department.
