CM URGES NEWLY ELECTED ZP MEMBERS TO WORK TO MAKE GOA SELF-RELIANT, ASKS THEM TO FOCUS ON VILLAGE CENTRIC WELFARE PROJECTS

The Government is working with a focus on village-centric sustainable development so as to make Goa self-reliant by the year 2037 stated Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant adding that to accomplish this, the newly elected Zilla Panchayat members have an important role to play. The Chief Minister was speaking at the oath taking ceremony function held for newly elected Zilla Parishad Members, organized by the Directorate of Panchayat at Secretariat, Porvorim today. The Director of Panchayat, Shri Narayan Arondekar administered the oath to all the ZP Members.
On these occasion, the Chief Minister also declared the creation of a third District namely Kushavati, comprising of four Talukas of Quepem, Canacona, Dharbandora and Sanguem.
The Chief Minister speaking further exhorted the newly elected Zilla Parishad members to work with dedication leaving aside party affiliations and work without any bias attitude. “Do not forget that you have been elected to undertake development of your village,” Dr Sawant said further advising the elected members to help people and resolve their problems at the administrative level. He said ZP members are directly connected with people and is the link between the people and the MLA and as such they should help their MLA in terms of development of their respective constituencies. He urged them to undertake meaningful large projects and not confine themselves with petty works like laying pavers, desilting etc.
The Chief Minister also said that the Government is functioning on the principle of ‘Antyodaya, Sarvoday and Gramoday’ which aims to strengthen rural Goa.
Minister for Panchayat, Shri Mauvin Godinho while addressing the gathering congratulated all the elected ZP members and advised them to work to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people who have elected them. He appealed to them to work together for a transparent, corruption free and people centric governance. Smt. Reshma Sandeep Bandodkar took oath as president and Shri Namdev Chari as Vice President of North Goa Zilla Parishad while Shri Siddharth Gaus Desai took oath as president and Smt. Anjali Arjun Velip as Vice-President of South Goa Zilla Parishad. Secretary Panchayat, Dr. V.Candavelou, IAS, CEO North Goa ZP Shri Damodar Morajkar, CEO South Goa Shri Vikas Kamble, all elected ZP members and others attended the function. Earlier Director of Panchayat, Shri Narayan Arondekar welcomed the gathering.
