International women’s day celebrated
Panaji: The Goa State Rural Livelihood Mission in association with National Bank for Agriculture and Rural development celebrated International Women’s Day today.
While speaking at the event the Chief Minister Shri Pramod Sawant said that it is an honor to celebrate Women’s day twice in a year nationally and internationally. Today, women are highly respected in our society and therefore women oriented days like women day, mother’s day are celebrated across the country.
He further said “Today we also celebrate the International Millet year 2023 across India. The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi took the initiative to acknowledge the importance of locally grown millet in the United Nations wherein it was declared a Millet Year in order to promote the produce of locally grown millets in different parts of the country. Our locally produced millet has high nutritional value”.
He further added that the Rural livelihood Mission is working effortlessly for the branding, packaging and providing trade mark for the local produce. There are nearly 6-7 rural marts established in Goa with the help of (NABARD).
The Chief Minister further said that the Government’s initiative local to vocal has gained a lot of popularity among the Goans. Our market is vast, providing ample of opportunities to the people and the Government too will provide all the necessary support, he added.
The other dignitaries who graced the occasion are Zilla Panchayat Chairperson, North Goa Shri Siddesh Naik, CEO, Sales Burgh Smt. Hiteshi Upadhyay, Project Director, DRDA North Goa Shri Bhushan Savaikar.
