In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) – 2020 the Project Management Unit (PMU), Directorate of Technical Education, SCERT-Goa; Design thinking has been identified as one of the pillar under the Coding and Robotics Education in Schools Scheme (CARES) scheme and as part of the impetus.

Design thinking engages student-teachers in hands-on design challenges that focus on developing empathy, promoting a bias toward action, encouraging ideation, developing metacognitive awareness and fostering active problem solving.

Design Thinking Goa 2023 is being implemented in 27 schools of Goa by 29 teachers with over 890 plus students involved in it. The process is of 8 weeks where a student will identify real life challenges in the society and find solutions to those challenges.

Based on empathy, the students have already identified challenge statements like Waste management in schools to loneliness in old aged people to crowd management systems for better mobility during school hours to domestic problems at home.

To solve the problem based on challenge statements the students are now being equipped with tools like root cause analysis and QBL (Quick, Bold, Long Lasting) to identify the root cause and offer solutions that are Quick Bold and Long Lasting.
