WRD MINISTER FELICITATES ENGINEERS ON ENGINEERS DAY

Minister for Water Resources Shri Subhash Shirodkar attended the Engineer’s Day Celebrations and felicitated the engineers at Sinchai Bhavan ( WRD) Porvorim yesterday.

The day is chosen to commemorate the birth anniversary of one of India’s greatest engineers and visionaries, Shri Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, whose brilliance left an indelible mark on India’s engineering landscape.

Other present were Shri Sarpreet Singh Gill, IAS, Commissioner cum Secretary, Water Resources, ER. Dnyaneshwar Salelkar, Chief Engineer, ER. Ankush Gaonkar, Additional Chief Engineer Water Resources Department, Dr. Purnanand Savoikar, Professor, Goa Engineering College as keynote speaker and Shri Pramod Badami former Chief Engineer, Mrs. Smita Desai and others.

Earlier, ER. Dnyaneshwar Salelkar welcomed the guests.

Addressing the Engineer’s Day Celebrations Shri Subhash Shirodkar reminded the contribution of the two great towering personalities Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya and Dr. Radhakrishnan to the Society. Both Visvesvaraya and Radhakrishnan left an indelible mark on India’s development, one through engineering and statesmanship, and the other through philosophy and education, he added.

Guiding the Officials, the Minister Shri Shirodkar appealed to establish clear guidelines for their work. This could involve setting priorities, defining roles, or outlining specific objectives. The Minister stressed the need for Officials to bring the creativity in the projects that they plan in the States.

Shri Sarpreet Singh Gill, IAS, Commissioner cum Secretary to Water Resources after saluting the dedicated contribution of the Engineering fraternity said, engineers are important in every sector, as they apply scientific and mathematical principles to innovate, solve complex problems, and design the technologies and infrastructure that society relies on. They are important to create sustainable development, the Secretary added.

Dr. Purnanand Savoikar, Professor, Goa Engineering College spoke on Integrating nature and sustainability for a green and sustainable future. He also said reducing carbon footprints is the need of the hour.

Saish Lawande compered the function and Shri Jason Menezes proposed vote of thanks.
