ALL INDIA CIVIL SERVICE CHESS TOURNAMENT HELD

The All India Civil Service Chess Tournament was organized by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs in collaboration with Central Civil Services Cultural and Sports Board New Delhi 5 at Bhausaheb Bandodkar Krida Sankool Sports Complex Peddem Mapusa. The distinguished guests present for opening and closing ceremony, Shri. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS Secretary (Sports and Youth Affairs), Shri. Arvind Khutkar, Chairman of the Tournament (Director of Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs), Shri. Ram Ranjan Singh (Convenor of AICS Tournament), Dr. Vivek Pawar, Competition Manager (Dy. Director Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs), Mrs. Antoneta Pinto (Nodal Officer AICS Tournament) IA Arvind Mhamal (Chief Arbiter of Competition). The event comprised of four events : Individual Men, Individual Women, Team Men & Team Women; two of which were FIDE rated.
For the first time Civil Services Chess Tournament in the Men’s category was a FIDE rating event. The total numbers of State, UT’s, Regional Sports Board participated were 35 states. The total womens team participated were from 20 states. The tournament also had 2 International Masters, 1 FIDE and 4 Candidate Masters. One Specially abled player Mr. Prachurya Kumar Pradhan from Odisha also took part in this Tournament.
The RSB Chennai won the Men’s Team event while Kerela won the team event in the Women’s category. Utkal Ranjan Sahoo of RSB Bhubaneshwar won the Individual event in Men, while Amrutha. S. of RSB Mumbai became Champion in the Individual category. In Women’s team, Kerela team won the Team Championship by scoring 11 match points, while the Chhattisgarh team finished 2nd and central secretariat, New Delhi finished 3rd.
In best men veteran category Shri. Sanjeev Kumar of RSB Mumbai, in women category Padmajan Nayudu Chauhan of M.P. Secretariat. Mrs Akansha Ulhas Dessai from Goa are the individual winner
