Focus should be on value, ethics based education: Shirodkar

The ultimate goal of education is to to create a well cultured civilized value based society stated the Minister for Water Resources, Shri Subhash Shirodkar at the inaugural function organized by the Directorate of Education at St. Inez Panaji. The theme of this Fifth Chief Secretaries Conference was to focus on the theme ‘Schooling: Building Blocks’, The initiative aims to foster meaningful discussions among participants and evolving various strategies which will culminate in preparing a very robust State Specific Note for the State of Goa.

The Minister speaking further said it the responsibility of stakeholders of education to make the student community develop with values and ethics. He further called for the need to stress on imbibing upon children basic values of ethics to build an deal society.

Chairman Goa State Innovation Council Shri Jose Manuel Noronha in his address urged to address the issue of coaching classes and vocational education which he opined has drastically affected the education system.

Shri Noronha said we need to train retrain our teachers to have upgraded and qualify education. He said there is no doubt about the basis of a society is morality. Wherein teachers have important role to play. For joyful learning he said requires good infrastructure, facilities of washroom for girls, female staff with adequate water, clean surrounding etc.

Shri Noronha while speaking about the screen addiction among students and children also said this is a serious issue which is drastically affecting the vision and skill of writing as well.

Chairman Nirmala Institute of Education Shri Dr. Russel D Souza deliberated on ‘Schooling : Building Blocks-Way forward’. While in panel discussion on From Police to Practice Implementing the New curriculum through Assessment and teacher capacity saw the participation by Chairman of Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Board. Shri Bhagirath. Shetye, Durector GSCERT Smt. Meghana Shetgaonkar , Director of Education Shri Shaiesh Zingade and Deputy Director of Education Ms.Sindhu Prabhu Desai as the moderator.
