WOMEN HAVE AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIETY: CM Urges to eradicate poverty

The Government has implemented various schemes which are women centric for the sake of women empowerment. They have an important role in the development of the society, stated Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant while speaking at the inaugural function of 3 day National Conclave ANUBHOOTI, on Financial Inclusion with the theme Charting Pathways to Rural prosperity.

The Ministry of Rural Development Government of India in collaboration with Goa State Rural Livelihood Mission organized the function.

Chief Minister highlighting the importance and objective of Goa State Rural Livelihood Mission (GSRLM) urged to eradicate poverty. To accomplish this objective Government endeavour is to provide sustainable livelihood to the rural poor and empower them with self-employment and entrepreneurship. The mission also aims to achieve this by organizing them through Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and equipping them with the necessary skills and resources to improve their income and overall quality of life.

Chief Minister speaking further said that Goa is the first State to implement 18 programmes of the central Government implemented towards eradication of poverty for example housing for all, har ghar Jal, Toilet, har ghar bijli and various others with a motive to enhance rural livelihood. He appreciated stakeholders of the RDA Department for striving to accomplish the objective of the Government. He appealed to all to cooperate with the Government to fulfil the objective of empowerment of women and thereby eradication of poverty, he added.

Member of Rajya Sabha, Shri Sadanand Shet Tanavde speaking on the occasion said women have an important role in nation building. We are laying thrust on implementing various programmes towards empowering women in the country. The Goa Government is committed to the Mission of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi Atmanirbhar Bharat, Viksit Bharat where in the State Government mission is to make the State self-reliant in line with the central Government.

Shri Tanavde praised the Chief Minister for his efforts towards fulfilling the objective of National Rural Livelihood Mission in Goa as Goa State Rural Livelihood Mission (GSRLM) and various initiatives towards the empowerment of women he added.

Jt Secretary Rural Development Govt of India Shri Sanjay Goel IAS Jt. Secretary NRLM Dr. Monica IPS, Jt. Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development Government of India Smt. Smriti Saran, National Mission Manager Shri Anil Kumar, Deputy Director DRDA -NRLM Shri Raman Wadhava, Project Director DRDA, South Smt. Dipali Naik and others were present at the function.
