The construction of twin Observatory Towers and Viewing Galleries on the new Zuari Bridge will become a center of attraction and will become as popular as the Eiffel tower of Paris boosting tourism, employment and economic activities,thereby developing Goa as the tourist capital of the country stated Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Government of India Shri Nitin Gadkari while speaking at the launching Ceremony of construction of twin Observatory Towers and Viewing Galleries on the New Zuari Bridge at a function organized by Department of Public Works at Village Panchayat hall at Chicalim, Vasco today.
The Union Minister speaking further said he was confident the said project will be completed by July next year. He said that the Union Government has succeeded in undertaking various infrastructural project in Goa with the able cooperation of the Goa Government. He also enlisted those projects which are underway and are about to be completed.
Chief Minister, Dr. Pamod Sawant while on the occasion, appreciating Union Minister Shri Gadkari, said the latter has always considered Goa for innovative projects. The construction of the observatory towers with viewing galleries on the lines of Eiffel Tower of Paris has been envisioned for Goa by the Union Minister to boost tourism in Goa. The twin towers projects will further help in developing tourism in Goa he said adding that the road expansion in Goa has been possible due to the wholehearted support of Gadkari for which he will be remembered forever by Goans.
Minister of Transport Shri Mauvin Godinho in his welcome address complemented Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari for his immense contribution in developing infrastructure in the state. He further mentioned that due to this robust infrastructure Goa has earned laurels from all over. “We know our mainstay is tourism for which Goa is known world over. The iconic tower which will come up will attract tourist thereby enhancing tourism in the state, the Minister said thanking Shri Gadkari for his wholehearted contribution in strengthening infrastructure in the state.
Union Minister of State for Power & New & Renewable Energy Shri Shripad Naik In his address said Goa is making strides in tourism sector and that people from all over preferred Goa as tourist destination for its scenic beauty, heritage, beautiful sea, beaches and others. He added that this tower project will help to attract tourists towards Goa.
The estimated cost of the the project is Rs. 270 crore and will have the amenities of observatory towers with viewing galleries on the lines of Eiffel Tower of Paris.The Upper Part of Towers will consist of two floors having viewing Galleries, Cafeteria and all Touristic Amenities. There will be a provision for Capsule Lifts, Walkway Bridge on either side in Marine Portion with carriage width of 7.50mts for passage of Tourists to access the Towers and parking facilities on either side of the bridge.
