25Th FOUNDATION DAY CELEBRATIONS AT NCPOR

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, will inaugurate the Silver Jubilee celebration of the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR), on April 3, 2025.

The celebration includes the Polar and Ocean Science exhibition, a virtual walk-through of India’s first Polar and Ocean Museum, and the release of a Philatelic Catalogue on India’s Antarctic Journeys.

Ms. Kaamya Karthikeyan, the youngest female to complete the Seven Summits challenge will hold an interactive session. On April 4, 2025 features expert lectures and experience sharing. The exhibition showcasing NCPOR’s ground breaking discoveries will remain open to the public on April 4 and 5, 2025 from 10.00 a.m to 5:30 p.m. The lectures and panel discussions will conclude with a Foundation Day lecture, Frozen Frontiers and Rising Oceans, by renowned Antarctic glaciologist Dr. Kenny Matsuoka on April 5, 2025

NCPOR, located at Headland Sada Vasco, is India’s gateway to the Polar Regions, leading studies in Antarctica, the Arctic, the Himalayas, and the Southern Ocean. It also leads India’s deep sea explorations on hydrothermal sulphide minerals under the Deep Ocean Mission.
