Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj valued talent within society and effectively utilized it in the development of his empire, which he referred to as the kingdom of the people said Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and further highlighted Shivaji’s multifaceted abilities as a visionary, astute administrator, and statesman, apart from his role as a Legendary Maratha warrior.
He was speaking after garlanding the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at the State-level function organized by the Department of Information & Publicity at Farmagudi Ponda today.
The Chief Minister said that the esteemed leader Shivaji Maharaj laid down the idea of navy which is adopted by our nation and other countries of the world. The Indian Navy’s adoption of new admirals’ epaulettes, drawing inspiration from the Rajmudra of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, is a tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
The Chief Minister speaking further underscored the need to adhere to principles preached colossal by Shivaji, which included excellent education, utmost dedication self- protection, and social sensitivity. He further highlighted the significance of integrating Shivaji’s ideology into our conduct and actions. He said Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s ideals of unity and inclusivity as vital components in establishing swarajya (self-rule) led him to seek support from a broad spectrum of social groups, including fishermen, farmers, artisans, traders, and individuals from various castes and communities he added
The Chief Minister remarked that the Prime Minister is adhering to the same principles of Shivaji, emphasizing the importance of providing the highest education to the youth by reskilling and upskilling and has implemented various schemes for the welfare of common man. The Chief Minister stated that Shivaji’s profound patriotism was ingrained in his very essence.
Minister for Art and Culture Shri Govind Gaude while speaking stressed on the importance of planning, drawing inspiration from Shivaji’s strategic approach. He appealed to youngsters to derive inspiration from the life and work and learn utilizing their skills of planning, to achieve success in life. If we embody the values, principles, and footsteps of Chhatrapati Shivaji in our endeavors, we can aspire to be like Shivaji he opined.
Water Resources Minister Shri Subhash Shirodkar in his address said Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a great visionary, strong and brave leader always aimed for the welfare and betterment of his subjects. If we want to justify the celebration of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj we have to emulate his ideas, his qualities, his statesmanship and his commitment towards his subjects and urged individuals to take pride in his valor, bravery and vision he added.
To mark the daylong celebration various competitions involving High school, Higher secondary and inter College quiz competitions for students were held . This included All Goa Theatrical Entry competition and All Goa Inter Collegiate Quiz on the topic – Life, Times and legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
These competition received overwhelming response from the students from across the State . Shei VIjendra Kavlekar Shri Zilu Gaonkar and Shri Kirtikumar Prabhu judged the competition.
Minister for Water Resources, Shri. Shri Subhash Shirodkar, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Shri Govind Gaude , Chairperson of Ponda Municipal Council, Shri. Anand Naik, Commissioner cum Secretary(I& P), Shri Ramesh Verma, IAS, Director of DIP, Shri. Dipak Bandekar, along with freedom fighters, and other dignitaries, offered floral tributes at the statue of Maratha Warrior.
Earlier Shri Narendra Tari, member of State level committee for celebration of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti elaborated about the day long programme.
Shri Dipak Bandekar, Director Department of Information and Publicity welcomed the gathering while Shri Ganesh Barve Joint Director Department of Information and Publicity proposed the vote of thanks.
