CM EXTENDS GREETINGS ON GOA LIBERATION DAY

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has extended his whole-hearted greetings and good wishes to the people of Goa on the historic occasion of Liberation Day of the beautiful State of Goa, which attained freedom from 450 years of Portuguese rule on December 19, 1961.
CM in his message to the people of Goa said, “Goa Liberation Day is a significant occasion as it marks the integration of Goa into the Indian Union in 1961, after centuries of Portuguese colonial rule. Celebrated with cultural fervour and pride, this day represents the unwavering struggle for freedom. Today, we recall with pride the bravery and contribution of the freedom fighters during the long-lasting freedom struggle.”
“The liberation struggle, a result of determination, fills our hearts with promise and hope as we stand together to build our State for the generations to come. The people of Goa, in 1961 with unwavering courage and determination, reclaimed their freedom, marking the end of centuries of Portuguese dominance. This day symbolizes the triumph of the human spirit. It’s a moment to celebrate and remember how the people of Goa united for freedom and harmony”, added CM.
Further in his message CM Sawant stated, “Over the years, Goa has transformed into a vibrant and progressive State, contributing significantly to the socio-economic strength of our nation. The spirit and hard work of the people have made Goa a shining example of development. Government is working dynamically for the development of the State by various means. The State of Goa today has become the best performing State in all the Sectors and the Government always stands committed for the overall progress of the State. Let us keep aside all differences and march towards the goal of Self-reliance through united efforts. On this Day, may our dreams for a brighter tomorrow come true.”
Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant made a special mention, he said, “On this momentous occasion of Goa Liberation Day, we paid our heartfelt tributes to the brave martyrs whose sacrifice made our freedom possible. Under the vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, our Government has taken a significant step forward to honour the martyrs’ invaluable contribution. For the first time, the Government of Goa extended a monetary benefit of ₹10 lakhs to the families of martyrs, up to the first generation.”
HCM stated that the Government honoured and felicitated the families of 15 martyrs as a token of gratitude for the immense sacrifices made by these heroes and their families.
HCM Dr. Sawant said, “As we celebrate the liberation of Goa, let us pledge to build a New Goa, progressive, inclusive, and prosperous in alignment with the dreams of those who fought for our freedom.”
“We remember the valor of all stalwarts who strengthened the movement to free Goa. Their determination inspires us to always work towards the growth and prosperity of Goa. Let us pay homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the liberation of Goa from colonial rule. Also, we salute the freedom fighters and our armed forces for their exemplary courage and sacrifice. Let us celebrate this historic occasion with enthusiasm and joy as it represents the victory of the people over colonial tyranny. Happy Goa Liberation Day to everyone,” the Chief Minister concluded.
