CM LAUNCHES ‘GOEM VINAMULYA VEEJ YEVJAN’

The Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant on Friday launched the ‘Goem Vinamulya Veej Yevjan’ at a function organized by Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA), Department of New and Renewable Energy and Electricity Department at the Secretariat in Porvorim. Dr Sawant underscoring the need for the scheme to reach out to more people in Goa, said the Government was committed to expand the reach of the scheme to benefit more consumers and added that the process to avail the scheme and documents has been simplified for the benefit of the consumers.

Present on the occasion were Minister for Power and New and Renewable Energy, Shri. Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar, Speaker of Goa Assembly, Shri Ramesh Tawadkar, MLA, Bicholim Constituency, Dr Chandrakant Shetye among others.

The gathering was informed that the benefits of the scheme include zero electricity bill to consumers applying for the scheme, free installation of residential solar power plant upto 5 KW for residential consumers consuming 400 units or less for the past year and are not defaulters provided that these residential consumers have sufficient roof area to install the solar power plant of requisite capacity to consummate to the units consumed by the consumer. The scheme is applicable to all existing and new beneficiaries of the PM Suryaghar Mufti Bijli Yojana. Under the scheme, the Goa Electricity Department will also waive off Fixed Charges, FPPCA, Public Lighting duty and Electricity duty for the consumers under the scheme for a period of 10 years.

‘Goem Vinamulya Veej Yevjan’ will be implemented by GEDA through its empanelled vendors. All equipment installed at the consumer premises for the roof top solar plant will remain the property of GEDA.

On the occasion, Dr Sawant also distributed State Subsidy of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana to beneficiaries in Goa.

Earlier in his welcome address, Chief Electrical Engineer, Electricity Department, Shri. Stephen Fernandes, said that the assurances given by Hon’ble Prime Minister at various international meets and conventions to help mitigate climate change, is being met with the launch of such initiatives.
