CM EXTENDS GOA REVOLUTION DAY GREETINGS

Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant greeted the people on the joyous occasion of Goa Revolution Day. In his message to the people, recalling the significance of June 18, 1946, he said it was on this day, the great nationalist and freedom fighter, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia, who fought valiantly against British rule, arrived in Goa and gave the call for freedom from colonial rule. It was his words addressed to the Goan gathering that set the spark in their hearts ablaze to fight for Goa’s freedom, said Dr Sawant.
Chief Minister further said that it was brave Goans like Dr Juliao Menezes and others who helped Dr Lohia in reaching out to the Goans to fight for their freedom.
This day has gone down in history as it showed the valour of Goans as they asserted their desire for freedom and fought for it eventually leading to Goa’s Liberation from the Portuguese regime he said.
“Let us remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters, who sacrificed their lives bravely and selflessly so that we could live in a free land. Let us show our gratitude by rededicating ourselves to ensure Goa marches ahead in all spheres of life in a peaceful and harmonious manner. Let us all join hands to take India and Goa on the path of Viksit Bharat Viksit Goa, 2047”, he concluded.
