DIP CONDUCTS TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR PUBLIC AUTHORITIES ON RTI ONLINE PORTAL

The launching of RTI online portal for all State, Semi Government Departments, Autonomous Bodies, Corporations has facilitated the citizens to file online RTI applications, First appeals and also online payment of RTI fees.
In order to facilitate the Public Authorities such as Public Information Officer, Assistant Public Information Officer and Nodal Officers of the Government Departments the Department of Information and Publicity which is the Nodal Agency under the RTI Act has taken the initiative to enlighten and provide adequate knowledge to these officials to enable them get acquainted with the functioning and operations of the recently launched RTI Portal in the State. This exercise is also intended to ensure smooth, effective and timely disposal of RTI request by the concerned PIO as mandated under the RTI Act.
The RTI Portal has been launched following the direction from the Hon’ble Supreme Court so as to facilitate citizens for filing of online RTI applications.
The three day training programme commenced for PIO, APIO and Nodal Officers at Conference hall, Directorate of Accounts, Kautilya Lekha Bhavan, Alto Porvorim today. The training will be conducted in six batches till March 28 covering all the Public Authorities under the RTI Act.
It may be noted that the online RTI Portal has been designed and developed by NIC.
Shri. Satesh Redkar, Technical Director, NIC gave insight about the online RTI portal and also enlightened the participants of the training programme numbering as many as 200 about various aspects connected with rules and regulations, procedures, features, etc for disposal of request and process to be followed for providing information.
Earlier Shri. Prakash Naik, Public Information Officer of the Department of Information and Publicity welcomed the participants.
