SHIRODKAR STRESSES THE NEED FOR PACS IN EVERY VILLAGE

Minister for Co-operation Shri Subhash Shirodkar stressed the importance of having a Primary Agriculture Credit Society (PACS) in every village. He was addressing at the distribution function of Computer System Hardware to Primary Agricultural Credit Societies in the State of Goa.
The function was organized by the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, and the Department of Cooperation, Government of Goa at Sahakar Sankul in the city today.
Shri Shirodkar underscored that PACs and societies primarily concentrate on individual and family welfare. He added that the State Government is actively working towards achieving Vikshit Goa 2037 and pointed the crucial role of support from cooperative societies.
Addressing the gathering, Shri. Ulhas Phaldessai from The Goa State Coop. Bank Ltd., expressed that cooperative societies should actively contribute to realizing Prime Minister Modi’s vision of “Sahakar Se Samrudhi” and strive to advance this goal. Further elaborating, Shri Phaldessai emphasized that the PACS computerization initiative will play a crucial role in transforming PACS into multi-service entities. These entities will extend a range of services to members and the rural population at large, encompassing agriculture and allied activities.
Shri Vishwas Kadam, Deputy Manager of the National Bank for Rural Development (NABARD), shared that NABARD has introduced a common NLP Software for PACS computerization. This initiative aims to enhance efficiency, accountability, transparency, and profitability in PACS. Approximately 44 PACS in Goa will receive computer hardware under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS).
Welcoming the attendees, Shri Arvind Bugde, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, extended greetings, while Shri Sitaram Sawal, Deputy Registrar, expressed gratitude in the vote of thanks.
