CM DR PRAMOD SAWANT INAUGRATES GOA CSR AUTHORITY’S FLAGSHIP PROGRAM ON DESIGN THINKING

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant inaugurated a Flagship Program on Design Thinking by Prof. Amaresh Chakrabarti, Chairman, Centre for Product Design and Manufacturing (CPDM) IISc, Bengaluru, an initiative by the Goa Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Authority, at Directorate of Accounts, Kautilya, Lekha Bhavan Porvorim. In his address, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant unveiled the government’s ambitious plan, Converge 2024, aimed at making students industry-ready. Emphasizing the importance of aligning education with industry needs, he announced the government’s commitment to create awareness about the human resource requirements in both industries and social life.

The Chief Minister highlighted the positive impact of numerous MoUs signed by the State Government, providing training across diverse fields, with visible results expected in the coming years. As part of the State’s efforts to bring about positive changes, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant shared details about the Vigyan Dhara program, featuring 500 lectures statewide to generate interest and awareness in Science and Mathematics. He also underscored the government’s focus on the Yuva Sanvaad program, specifically addressing stress management and financial literacy. Dr Sawant reaffirmed the government’s commitment to realizing the vision of a developed India through initiatives such as Fit India, Skill India, and Inclusive India. Shri Dr. Gururaj, Principal Advisor, Goa CSR Authority, emphasized the power of unity in achieving substantial goals.

“Together, we can be authors of the future,” he asserted, encouraging collective efforts for a positive and transformative impact. Prof. Amaresh Chakrabarti, Chairman, Centre for Product Design and Manufacturing (CPDM) IISc, Bengaluru and an esteemed expert in product design and manufacturing, highlighted the pivotal role of design thinking in shaping the future. “Design is planning for change,” he remarked, underlining its significance in driving innovation.

The Goa Government’s collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science, marked by a MoU, aims to train 5000 individuals in Design Thinking, fostering a culture of creativity and problem-solving. The Training was imparted to Senior Government Officers.
