“STATE CONSUMER RIGHTS DAY” HELD

The Department of Civil supplies & Consumer Affairs observed State Consumer Rights Day by organizing a Consumer Awareness programme on June 27, 2023 in collaboration with the V.M. Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar, Panaji.

The Programme was conducted in presence of Shri. Gopal Parsekar, Director, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Dr. Shaber Ali, Principal of V.M. Salgaocar College of Law and Shri Roland Martins & Smt. Ameeta Salatry, members of the Consumer Conciliation Committee.

In his welcome address, Shri. Gopal Parsekar, Director, Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, highlighted the significance of the State Consumer Rights Day and gave an over view of the activities of the Consumer Cell of the Department.

Dr.Shaber Ali, principal of V.M. Salgaocar College of Law in his address highlighted the need for consumers to be aware of their rights and appealed to the students not to pay more than Maximum Retail Price (MRP) for any products they purchase.

Thereafter the resource person for the programme Shri. Roland Martins, Member of Consumer Conciliation Committee, had an interactive session with the participants sharing his knowledge on various aspects of Consumer Rights & Responsibilities.

An informative banner and leaflet prepared by the Department on the Rights of the Consumer under the Consumer Protection Act 2019 was released. The brochure of the Consumer Welfare Cell of the V.M. Salgaocar College of Law was also released on the occasion.
