APPLICATIONS INVITED FOR ORIENTATION PROGRAM IN HANDLOOM

Department of Handicrafts, Textile and Coir has proposed to start orientation program in Handloom weaving in the villages of Varkhand in Pernem Taluka, Assonora village of Bardez Taluka, Surla Village in Bicholim Taluka, Querim village in Sattari Taluka, Kundaim village in Ponda Taluka and Ponda town from February 15, 2023 onwards.

Persons interested in learning the skill of handloom weaving may join the training program by submitting their applications in the prescribed format to the Inspector in the Department of Handicrafts, Textile and Coir, Panaji or through Swayampurna Mitra of the concerned Village Panchayat/Municipality on or before February 15, 2023. Eligibility for selection of trainees under the Scheme Vishwakarma Kaushal Yojana is as follows. Applicants should be having Domicile of Goa for 15 years, Vth Standard as Minimum Qualification, Age group of 18 to 45 years. However there will be no age restriction for traditional craftsmen of the State of Goa.

Training will be imparted free of cost for the participants. Selected candidates would be paid a stipend of Rs. 1,000/- for each completed month of training and for the SC/ST trainees the stipend would be Rs. 1,500/- per month after successful completion of the training.
