WORK TOWARDS SDGS TO ATTAIN SUSTAINABILITY: CABRAL

We intend to become part of the Prime Minister’s vision of sustainable development goal while being a big country with a vast and ever increasing population. To achieve the goal, we have to come together, provide inputs so as to progress ourselves as a big nation and go to attain sustainability stated Minister for Science & Environment Shri Nilesh Cabral.
Speaking as the chief guest after inaugurating 1st three day International Environment & Sustainability Summit Goa ( IESSG ) 2023. held at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukharjee Stadium Bambolim today Shri Cabral underscored the need to introduce the concept of battery storage to go that far to achieve sustainability and reaching zero carbon emission. Although we are a small State we have our own problems like waste which occurs due to the fifteen to twenty times population which comes to and from within the country and abroad.
The 1st International Environment & Sustainability Summit Goa 2023 is organised by the Goa State Pollution Control Board in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Radeecal Communications, CSIR, National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The theme of the Summit is Building a Sustainable Future which aims to Present sustainability solutions and best practices. Sharing of experiences, success stories and innovative ideas. Build a network and enhance the learning experience. As India holds the Presidency of G20 for 2023, hosting the eighteenth G20 Summit, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
The Minister said we have a systematic way of tackling the waste problem but when it goes beyond the limit of fifteen to twenty times the population it creates a problem. He said the three day summit while coming to conclusion will derive solutions, suggest opinions which will go a long way to help the State and the country and the same is being eagerly looked forward. This summit will definitely deliberate on various issues concerning the environment fulfilling its very object, he added.
The Minister impressed upon the proactive role of Goa introducing electric buses to tackle pollution caused due to vehicles. He called upon the experts, personalities, scientists, individuals to share their experiences which will help in policy making to chase the sustainable development goal. He congratulated the Chairman PCB and Member Secretary for their endeavour in organizing the event.
Secretary for Environment, Shri Arun Kumar Mishra IAS while speaking said when ecology balances economy and ecology balances ecology without affecting each other that is the sustainable development. Sustainable development aims for intergration equity. During the journey of one generation succeeding the other, the time period becomes the custodian leaving for future generations with much better conditions, he remarked.
Shri Mishra said for any sustainable development technology has an important role to play. With the help of it we can work towards minimising pollution thereby protecting the environment.
