FDA IMPOSED PENALTY ON BUSINESS OPERATORS

The Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration has informed that the District Collector North Goa; in the capacity of Adjudicating Officer under Food Safety and Standards Act have disposed off, one case each in which the manufacturer and the seller have been imposed with penalties for manufacturing and selling of sub-standard Mustard oil.
Both the manufacturers have been fined Rs. 5000/- each and the seller’s have been fined Rs. 2,000/-.
Adjudicating case was filed by Food Safety Officer, Ms. Sujata Shetgaonkar. Sample was drawn from a super market at Muslimwada, Bicholim, Goa. The Sample of “Pure Mustard Oil (Dalda)” was found failing in, fatty acid profile.
The second sample of “Kacchi Ghani Mustard Oil (Priya)” was drawn by Food Safety Officer, Ms. Sujata Shetgaonkar, from same super market in Bicholim; of a manufacturer situated at M/s. Bhawani Silicate Industries, Jaipur, Rajasthan,sample was declared as sub-standard due to fatty acid profile.
The above samples of Mustard Oils were drawn as a part of regular surveillance procedure.
